Returning from Withdrawal or Suspension
Returning to Charlotte after a full withdrawal or academic suspension is a major milestone. While you have already navigated several university processes, your success this semester depends on the support systems you build around yourself.
UNC Charlotte offers a wide range of resources designed to help you stay on track, manage stress, and thrive in the classroom. Explore the resources below to build your personal success plan.
Academic Support
Course-Specific Support
The university provides several free resources to help students master course content. Peer tutoring is available for over 150 courses by drop-in or appointment through the University Center for Academic Excellence. The university partners with Tutor.com to offer 24/7 access to online, professional tutors in a variety of subjects. Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) sessions are drop-in, structured, peer-led group study sessions that give students extra, interactive practice in critical course concepts. Additional assistance in mathematics and statistics courses is available via drop-in through the Math Learning Center.
Academic Coaching
Peer academic coaching helps students strengthen skills like time management, exam preparation, and note-taking. Peer coaches known as Success Guides can be great accountability partners as well, meeting with students to help them pace their semester and work toward their academic goals. Complete the survey to be matched with a Success Guide. If you’d like a one-time meeting to discuss an academic skill or challenge without being matched for a full semester, try an academic consultation first. These can be scheduled through Connect or by emailing uncc-ucae@charlotte.edu.
Accountability Groups
Accountability Groups capitalize on a concept called “body doubling” where students report being more productive and focused when studying or working with others. These groups meet weekly for 75-minutes. Members set goals each week and work toward them independently. Check out the website for instructions on how to join a group.
Academic Skill Workshops
The University Center for Academic Excellence offers workshops throughout the semester on topics like stress management, time management, study skills, and more. Check out the website for the schedule. Workshops are first-come, first-seated. In-person and online workshops are available.
Writing Resources Center (WRC)
If it has been awhile since you have written an academic paper, the WRC can help you at any stage of the writing process from brainstorming to outlining to final drafts. They offer in-person and online sessions to fit your schedule. Schedule an appointment online at your convenience.
Health & Wellbeing
Office of Accessibility and Accommodations
If a disability or chronic condition contributed to your time away, this office can facilitate academic and housing accommodations to ensure you have a universally accessible learning environment.
Christine F. Price Center Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)

Most medical consultations are included in your student health fee. From primary care and psychiatry to physical therapy, Student Health ensures that students have the medical support they need to focus on their academic success. Check out their website for appointment options.
